with the strife of warring clans on his brow
and snows that are slow to melt
his only hearth,
his crown buried deep in the ground.

A robust knight
who lies now nursed by a widowed lass
who lost her very dear husband
to a loyal cause
and clung to the dream of a free Scotland.

A familial man
who teaches Scot, the orphaned child,
that a good soldier is a dutiful son,
a devoted brother,
and the best of pals.

A mighty swordsman
who fearlessly confronts the Judas-clowns
who are willing to sell his kingship
to the English crown
for a hundred coins.
