the girl you knew
is gone,
because none of us
destined for greatness
ever remains the same;

we always have to evolve
and grow into the bones
of things that were once
terrifying to us—

growth can be painful,
but so is remaining somewhere
that you’ve outgrown;

maybe you knew a part of me once,
but you don’t know me now—

i have reclaimed my voice and my magic,
no longer am i afraid of either;
have embraced that i am someone whose
depths scare those who have none—

the music of my heart and soul isn’t for everyone
nor is the mythology of my bones,

and you are one of those who are no longer
welcome in the garden of my heart and will find
themselves escourted out of the forest of my soul.
