i found the light

even devils can pretend,
you masked yourself an angel;
i believed your light instead
of accepting the darkness
which was your truth—

shame on you for fooling me
just that once,

and i know everyone makes mistakes;
but i rather despise that i let you
fool me—

usually was so good at seeing through
others,
but i couldn’t see through you;
yet when hungry hearts are starving they’ll
eat poisoned bread if it promises
to be love—

was just another game of lust
that left me spent and wounded,

but one morning i woke up and the pain was gone;

and i remembered my voice and reclaimed
my magic and i decided to grow where you planted me
and out of the darkness i found the light.
