A piece of me

Fabrice Poussin

The flesh thins as she walks away
tearing at the spectator of such abandon
and the body echoes with a deep void.

Something aches behind those eyes
while he waves once more into the light
familiar with the habitual farewells.

Suffering in silence a certain ecstasy flashes
through the bones wrapped in gentle fire
and the humanoid frame trembles.

Soon the umbilic will be fused again
links of a chain through ages and worlds
where life sources may merge for a rebirth.

For now, he reflects in the gateway of wrought iron
leaning upon the shapes of two-dimensional earths
gaze glued to the beat that makes his blood move.
