As I near Sixty-Five

I am inundated with offers
from insurance companies
along with demands the
Government makes. Threats
of severe penalties, should I
not register for Social Security
and Medicare.

However, should I begin to
collect from these funds.
The government will
snatch back nearly half
with constantly rising
rate increases, tax increases
and other made-up charges.

Were this forty years ago
I would have been retired
at sixty-two, with a pension
from a union job like
my father had. Perhaps
you remember unions?
Those organizations
the wealthy and government
constantly complain about.

Regardless that most government
employees belong to unions
with pension plans. While
politicians have golden parachutes.
I understand the wealthy’s
disdain. They prefer you invest in
the wheel of fortune stock market
that they control.

So, the government raises
the retirement age and
Medicare rates, while
the wealthy manipulate
the stock market to ensure
they maintain their wealth
while draining yours.

As I near sixty-five
I expect a letter
encouraging me
to be a good American.
Hurry up and die
so the government
and the wealthy
can survive.
