I wanted to build a new ballpark in Brooklyn
on land given to me by the city
after they had taken it with eminent domain,
but Moses nixed the plan,
saying a ballpark wasn’t a legitimate use
Now Moses was no stickler for the rules
when he wanted to increase his power;
he would build me a ballpark in Queens
But I wanted to own the park,
not be someone else’s tenant,
and I started to look elsewhere
Politicians from Los Angeles
couldn’t wait to give me land they had lying around;
the only thing remaining for me to do
was to convince a weakling like Stoneham
to bring his team out west also,
so the League would have no objection to the move
