Messengers of hope
that roam the skies,
navigators pursuing
the routes ships plough.

Their squeals bring cheers,
lull sailors’ doubts,
heralding silhouettes
of trees and sand.

They wobble and squabble
over the proffered bread
then double their efforts
to trouble who feed them

and waltz in flocks
to cliffs and bays
then whirl down parks
like bright snowflakes.

Their plaintive calls
resound very far
that neither doors
nor walls can bar.
