And then one day at forty-
something only you hear
the crash that you will spend
the rest of your life denying

Mom may have lived
that way but with advanced
degrees in Art and a desire
to be the next Karen Finley
but whose performances
would involve handcuffs
& crucifixes
—you were not going to be
suburb-a-vanning kids to
the next pre-school activity
for at least another decade

How does it feel to have
the power that previous
generations were denied?
(never better than when
throwing it all away to become
an anarchist & performing
artist)
