Is why we were prefer
taking multiple choice tests
over writing essays

        Would you rather be rich?
        Happily married?
    or C: a depressed poet counting
    out enough pills to do the deed
    in his basement

Why of course I would choose
none of the above
and just continue teaching
students who prefer texting

“How ya feeling these days Kenny?”
“Not much anymore, thanks!”

Oh where is there a knife, an Arab,
and a blazing beach in Algeria to commit
the ultimate absurdity?

But because my bread growing up
already came pre-sliced

is why American boys can only
get absurd with guns
