As the World Turns the Pages of my Atlas into Dust

Let’s tear out the streets that no longer dare
to take us somewhere we care about. Let’s chop
those useless blocks into broken bits of
bricks and glass that we thought were meant to last.
Let’s try to remember the difference between
a rock and a stone when one of them’s thrown
in our direction. Let’s take what others
have made with their own two hands, and let’s
break their brooms and mops on top of all that.
Let’s not stop at the corners of our own
neighborhoods. Let’s erase any trace of
sleep and ease these streets into that good night.
