I beheld you beneath the water
        arms caressing octopus style
You’re chic
        now a sweetheart of Neptune

Yesterday I loved you
        tomorrow I won’t
Today I’m selfless
        wishing to let go

I can’t compete with a sea god
        my tridents not as big
You’ll become half fish
        seeking shoal passion

Yesterday I loved you
        tomorrow I won’t
There’s plenty more fish in the sea
        but a land bird is calling

I’m no sea god
        not any god
        not even idol
        just a man offering all he has
