stretching out
in a blur of
half light

anxious souls
disrupt the silence
with whispers

rising and falling
accepting the guilt
to be truth

a mirror
in the background
becomes an
accomplice
between them
along with the
crushed cigarettes
and discarded
breaths

as they
pause not
to say
goodbye
