Silence

Miranda Clarity

I hear the silence around me,
the silence of nothing,
the silence of being alone.

I hear the silence without me
from the quiet rage within me—
those silent screams and unheard cries.

The buried confusion,
the hidden struggles
bottled up within my mind

screaming out with no voice—
screaming out silence.

I hear the silence of words unspoken,
questions not dared to be asked.

I ponder the answers
but I only get silence—
a deafening silence all around me.

It conquers the voice within me
and quells the maddened rage
so that all I know is...

silence.
