I.
Frosty ferry decks
stars & stripes flap, flutter, twist
empty iron bench
I yearn for times together
sitting, breathing Puget Sound.

II.
Bird droppings splatter
paint vacant cypress benches
autumn leaves rustle
Central Park stands abandoned
except for Strawberry Fields.

III.
Supportive backrest
wooden slats & curled metal
Victorian bench
lounging—nurturing romance—
my parents fed park squirrels.
