In this net of love,
The bonds of obsession
Are forever growing.

In this battered union of players,
The sacrifices never hold.

We had long ago abandoned script,
And started to improvise.

We had tried to take on all of it,
With some less than desirable results.
Unsure of what we knew,
And wrong about all of it.

Into this net
We cast ourselves,
And played like amateurs.

If only we could have known
That dissent would meet with fire
In a blaze from our own hands.

If only we could have hit our targets,
Or managed our options better—
But convinced instead of deeper things,
We watched the whole thing shatter.
