i’ve had enough of being a cog

i was told my feminism is too angry,
but if you’re a woman and you’re
not angry then it must be your privilege
speaking because there is so much
to be angry about;
one of the men i work with tried telling
me women and men were equal today and
that women even had more rights and i
started laughing in his face before we started
arguing,
everyone was on my side and he was
completely baffled by it—
women aren’t equal when they want to
control our bodies and what we can do and cannot do
with them,
there’s no equality when there’s the wage gap,
and there’s no equality when women are murdered
or raped or beaten simply for telling a man no;
women have never been equal in this patriarchy so it’s
time to smash the machine because i don’t know
about you—
but i’ve had enough of being a cog in a machine that
doesn’t serve me.
