just the other day
i got my ten year pin,
and a letter thanking
me for my service;

and i thought about it—

you know what would’ve
been better thanks?
a raise or a bonus or actually
remembering to buy my gloves
because i am allergic to the ones
they always remember to buy,

a better thanks would be to appreciate
everything i was able to do while we’re working
short staffed instead of expecting me to
pull miracles out of my ass;

but i guess to be respected and treated
with dignity and integrity is too much to ask
of a corporation—

so i’ve got a ten year pin.
