of my old church?

At least Benny is here
(unlike the rest of our old
factory city his titanium leg
from the war does not rust)

So is Gloria who was a nurse’s
aide until she got caught stealing
meds from the Dementia unit

If I still come back it’s to teach
Adult Education in the former town
newspaper building half of which
is used for Dialysis treatments

And tonight’s lesson is about
the Constitution
—Supreme Law of a Land
littered with Fundamentalist
apocalyptic announcing pamphlets
and scratched off un-winning
lottery tickets
