Nobody wants to die except if they’re
Gale Acuff
woefully unhappy and death seems good
to living’s lousy, they’re choosing death o
-ver life and I’ve felt that way myself and
me only ten years old but I wonder
how many 100-year-old folks pack
it in there near the end to hasten doom,
that’s kind of funny, peculiar any
-way, since they’re gone putting off death
though maybe through no fault of their own—just
think about making it that far but then
ridding yourself of pain or loneliness,
maybe that actually makes folks feel
younger, maybe there’s something to being
desperate when their lives seem pointless. Take me.
