Ticket stubs
to a concert
I don’t remember attending,
the years erase memories
but selectively,
always taking the good.

A response to a letter
I don’t remember writing
loses me in the soup
of missing information,
words on the page
existing in a reality
I know nothing about.

A newspaper article
I don’t remember saving
relating to a story
I don’t remember happening
lies tucked inside
an old scrapbook.

Pieces of my past
have disappeared
between the stiff pages
of a memory book,
suffocated under
the clear magnetic film.
I can read about the events,
reacquaint myself with details,
but the memories are gone,
taken by the years.
