I place yellow sticky notes
Like breadcrumbs;
The big things, I write down
On a dry-erase board at my desk.
Somewhere between the kitchen
And the bathroom, I forget
What I came for, or why you left.

The sticky notes aren’t very sticky;
The markers make mostly dust.
Sometimes I know where you are
By how strange your room appears.
Today lunch is by the pond,
The goldfish are in their huddle;
I recall a time when I could remember
A time I cannot.
