A Few Puzzle Pieces

With a shadow of uncertainty
in her eyes
and her voice trapped
in the back of her throat,
she pushed a few
puzzle pieces
around her mind.

Knowing she had breached
all normal communication methods,
still she felt a strange presence
enter her life.
Something or someone perhaps
to tell her troubles to,
in hopes it would shrink
and shrivel the past.

She soon expelled a long
drawn out sigh,
devoid of any humor
or even a brief peak of joy.
What or whoever had entered
could not fit into the puzzle
in her mind where memories
reside.
