Itchy (Trigger)

Did you ever have an itch that when you scratched it
at first it felt good but then it spreads and gets worse
so you scratch it more and it keeps getting bigger until
you have to stop.

Sometimes I’m an itch and everyone is a fingernail
and they scratch at me because it makes them feel
good but I’m already sore and raw and irritated and
they won’t stop.

But when I try to be a scratch I make things worse
and it keeps spreading and I dig harder until my
fingernails are bloody and that’s when I remember
you have to stop.

People itch from bug bites or conditions, romance or
drug addictions, but no-one talks much about the scabs
and scars scratching leaves and I’m getting so itchy—
I just want it to stop.
