Did you call it quit, or was it I? I don’t really
remember, so I set out
to look for the signs – an impossible task.
Morning rises slowly on the hills
our disjointed chatters came disguised as life.
We knew the score but lacked the details
we drew a dotted line of promises and failed.
The bull on the hilltop is shining in the April sun;
I left the window a little open at night.
I loved you; then what? The mind becomes
suddenly active. I pleaded with time —
obstinate and unrepentant.
We began in earnest; what then
