She Smiled

She sat there, in
the sand, sobbing.
He watched her,
uncertain what to do.

She looked up at
him. “Take my hand,”
she said. He did so.
It felt warm in his.

“Now,” she said, “tell
me that everything will
be alright,” He did this,
too.

“Are you alright now?”
he asked gently. “The
kindness of strangers,”
she replied, “is magical.”
And she smiled.
