cement cracking
wood decaying
bricks chipping
in an old Southern mansion
tolerating
perseverance,
and time
and progression
not by choice
as with the direction
of a swaying beam
having trouble
fitting into its new home
soon to be a New York City skyscraper
reaching
into the sky
searching
for meaning
because it can.
