Iguana

Ancient images in the sand:
a child jumping up and down,
leaping, dancing, and encircling
a marine Iguana.

But now, there’s only an Iguana
drifting in the sand.

And the child is an old man,
almost invisible, trudging
across a private dreamscape,

vanishing in the distance.
