Many years lost, ages and hours
a multitude of nights uncountable
uncanny that clocks don’t read
too early or too late
Many homes lost
old streets of each thoughtless turn
a flat map and childhood as thin
as an old storybook
A home lost
the chair, window, plate
The dreams are dried
and hung like skins of an echoing drum
I can’t remember all I wanted
the small prides of myself
the hurt of it all
and the gallant comings home
So stay close to me my love
till this last leaving
and whisper to me
who we were.
