Orbiting Bodies

i.
One day, I noticed another human
sitting right next to me
and I thought -
“Have you been there the whole time?”
I smelled mortality -
and stopped believing in all things that orbit.

ii.
He had a second mouth.
It spoke in tongues of folk songs,
ballads of the miserable.
Yet he did not know that the world
sang his language.

iii.
It was when I stopped
feeling alone in this world
that my faith in it
quit.
