I drove by the city park
on the way to work pondering

world events and my usual
financial emergency. Two kids

had found a tire swing hung
from an old elm tree

trading turns to see who could
reach further into a blue sky.

I thought back on a childhood
void of care; where crisis were

trivial in comparison and world
events were a world away.
