brutish petroleum blowing its guts

bones roll twenty-seven come eleven
poison foaming at the rim of the mug
swallow harder, the others are hungry

wise acres weigh in why’d you ignorant
coonasses, rednecks, and spades build a town
on the gulf at the mouth of a river

to insult your intelligence only
as much as you insult ours it’s because
ports work so much better on the water
