on the porch outside. Twenty-eight degrees.

She’s wearing sun-glasses but
no gloves against the cold. And
people are saying her son was cremated.
Saying her daughter-in-law stole.

We are watching Jerry Springer.
We are watching Dr. Phil.
Winnie tells me it’s worse to lose a son.
She tells that to her daughter too.

My mother’s in the window.
Peeking. I want to come in from the cold.
And I’ll ask her, Mrs. Lincoln, other than that
