Our vows spiraled skyward
in the warm Summer afternoon
it’s unclear how

the hornet’s nest was dislodged
we straddled a fence
while guests ran pell-mell

“For better or worse,” became manifest
before we said, “I do.”
I don’t remember kissing the bride

Is it true there’s a reason for everything?
We played the hand we were dealt
but I don’t know who won
