As much as music it was fog,
as cold descending,
as candles stayed unlit,
as if daylight was more than daylight.
It was not ceremonial,
a stillness filling a doorway.
A reverie not yet begun,
pedestrians stopped,
mediums stumped.
No one could have choreographed it,
nor was there need for naming it,
not paid for, done for the taking,
nothing held back.
The accidental whelming up:
data eclipsing tact:
antiques totalled, squatters edgy, swat teams
with their sawed off shotguns at the ready.
