Or more
Along the Lake Michigan shore
East or west of State St
North or south of Madison St
Long corridor
Living more or less peacefully
Colors and races as rich
As an entire human array
They work, they create
They live their lives
Cutting grass, planting and watering flowers
Or spraying bullets
Most questioned it -why?
Having in common love of life
They are Chicago vibrating hearts
Variety of music from rock
To swing or blues
The beat of the drums
Like nails pierced thru
The plank on construction site
Love, indifference or hopelessness
From outburst of happiness
To sadness of broken hearts
They do have it all
They sing
They paint
They dance
They play guitars
Or compose songs
On late hot summer nights
They live their lives
Immersed in the vital fiber
Of Chicago city blocks
