The overcast sky
Seems unable to decide
Whether it should rain
Or give way to the sun

Like a teenage girl
Wondering if her prom date
Should be the star quarterback
Or the class outcast

For sometimes it’s not
So easy to choose
When we feel our hearts
Tugged in opposite directions

And both ways offer
Their own rewards
To dance in the spotlight
Or mend a wilted flower
