Cadillac Vision

Antonio Ingram

Here I am again, on this lonely street. But at least I got this beautiful night to look at. To think I’ve been around for so many years and it never ceases to amaze me. There is nothing like driving under the night sky. It’s so magical. And how the moon lights everything. A lot of humans have had their moments in my car. And that’s not to brag, it is really embarrassing actually. But I’m the only one that can hear myself so... And speaking of humans, I don’t know why they idolize things like me so much.
Two boys walk by. They see the Cadillac and are in complete fascination with it, “Wow! You see that, man?” says one boy.
“Yeah, that’s my future Cadillac. Except mine will look better than that,” says another boy.
There they go again. And you keep on dreaming kid, there is not a Cadillac like me. I mean you may find one the same color, made of the same mechanics, but it’s not me.
Tim (late 20s, long blonde hair) appears out of his condo, “Well, you better keep working hard, kid,” he says. “This Cadillac just keeps getting better. It’s going to take you a while to catch up to this.”
You tell them, Tim. This is my owner by the way. I found my appreciation of life and nature through him. He changed my perspective of humans. I always see these humans that would look at Cadillacs like me and say, “Wow” but the real wow is all the scenery around me. It’s a shame that most humans don’t care enough about that. But that’s just my view. Anyway, Tim would drive me around just so he could see all the pretty sights all around. We’ve been on many road trips and we’ve met many groupies on those road trips. Hey, Cadillacs have groupies too. And don’t call me old, you heard what Tim said. And he always keeps me nice and shined up. I’ve got orange candy paint and gold rims sitting on twenty-four inch tires, baby.
“The LA tour is over, old friend,” Tim says, putting some belongings in my trunk. “We’re heading to Phoenix. I have been craving the desert, and all the delights it may bring to me.”
Haha. Well, you heard him. The journey continues on. And that is perfectly fine with me.
