never seems long enough
every time you go
because you’re back with another
wound to cut open in me,
and i know you think you did the right thing
even when i told you that it was
wrong;
i think a part of your knows that you broke
the tapestry when it really needed
more thread
i am done with this narrative—
so stop haunting me
don’t need your ghost pacing the halls at night
or the remembrance of your mouth
upon my body
or your hands or anything else that i can sometimes
feel when i lay down at night
thinking of all the time we spent together
i wasted
because to you i was just a good time
i had been mislead into thinking it were something real,
but the only one that was true was me;
you couldn’t be asked to be anything less than a nightmare
even when we were together.
