A Tree, a Girl, a Penis and I

    There is this park that I frequent. It’s at the edge of town. I can sit and think and just be alone, or I can just hide. It is always windy there in the late afternoon, pouring from out of the west, funneling through two prominent mountains parted like a woman’s thighs. A palm tree becomes animated, it’s slender torso moving in concentric circles. Its hypnotic movements reach within me, arousing, as I turn to watch a young woman as she passes by facing fancifully into the wind, her tempo an unaggressive melody, possibly flute-like in tonality. And over her head and mine, in the lazy sky high above, a penis with wings, defiant of earth wind and gravity, breathing fire as it soars, penetrating the impossible. And, for just a moment, it’s just the tree, the girl, the penis and I.
