Dreamer

Travis Green

He was a dreamer.
That’s all his life ever consisted of.
The brilliant mind of a genius,

But a falling star lost in the rain.
Bursting with insight and depth,
deep channeling language above
towering equations.

Still, he was drifting without direction,
fumbling and stumbling, scattered in
the scarlet seas, shapeless, one-dimensional,
a sluggish soul like a breathless clock, like a
worn out tire.

I could feel his mixed energy,
the static sounds that had no rhythm
or formation, the stuttering syllables
disintegrating beneath darkness,
as I took in each wave of doubt
and confusion, each soul-less square root,
drowning and drowning, click-clacking,
and shifting, a shattered existence hanging
on a thread of brokenness.

And as much as I could see a
distinguished gentlemen,
an immense invention of great depth,
he was a dreamer, a flickering light
floating downstream, weightless,
failed, diminishing in dead conjunctions.
