A Paris Lover

She will never leave you.
Something of her has settled inside you,
a pearl, nestling deep
and soft as wine.
When you pray, it is her voice that responds,
when your path is blocked by questions
it is her who you turn to for the answers.
But it is still lonely, not having something
you can touch, and it is then
she teaches you that shadows, sometimes,
can be more tender than the light.
