My Friend

David Boski

He was a good-looking kid: smart,
got good grades,
was probably the
best basketball player in our school,
and he
had a pretty girlfriend with
gigantic tits. everything
seemed fine,
but then he didn’t show up to class for
a few days and I finally heard the horrible
news via the school’s answering machine.
apparently, he had been acting irrational,
and had gone mad during the weekend,
and his family first took him to a doctor,
and then to be analyzed by a psychiatrist.
the psychiatrist said that he seemed fine,
and then a few hours after they arrived home,
his sister noticed he was missing; she looked
for him everywhere, before she finally found
him hanging by a rope in the garage: he was 13.
I went to the wake and I couldn’t stop the tears
from pouring out my eyes; it was the first time I
saw a dead body, and this one belonged to my friend.
later I heard that they had found cult propaganda in
his bedroom and that they think he was brain washed.
I don’t know if that’s true, and I don’t know why he
suddenly felt the need to end it all; the only thing I
knew then, and the only thing I know now, is that he
was a good kid, and he was also my friend.
