just want to live my life

i am tired of chasing ghosts
people are everything except what
they admit to
no one wants you to know
their flaws or their weaknesses,
and i am always the one
to help and fix everyone and catch them
when they fall;
but when i am falling beneath the water
the weight of things so heavy i cannot breathe
no one swims into the water to save me
i just die another death—
they say i can trust them,
but in the end
i can’t;
the only one that will ever save myself is me
but right now i cannot figure out how to do that
i just want to break the bondage of the sadness
dragging me down—
i just want to live my life
not simply exist
as a cog in a machine that serves no one.
