At Long Last

A few days off straight off pay-day was always
Guaranteed to be a full-on hedonistic blast
Of booze and smokes but today, two days post-work
I sit here, slightly bored and craving the warmth
Of the sun that apparently sits up there today
High in the sky but which I cannot feel
Not here behind the rich person’s wall which
Steals all it’s warmth from my tiny room
Meaning if I go out later it’ll probably be warmer
Than it feels right now but for once, alone and
Away from the chaos and insanity that rule
These streets around my room, I think I may
Just stay here. Sit here, alone and happy at
Long last.
