We live in persistent malaise as the
glass-boned trees fall all around us.

(relics of the plum-purple autumns of
days long gone)

Wrath ridge, A place of so much unease
where the restless dead and the listless

living commingle. The house is all dark
Corners and this summer so hot and hazy

angry words and deeds are a cyclone always
whirling in the background

lying in wait. I won’t acknowledge
The ambient wraiths, anymore

Though in the dead of night they rouse me

And I wake feeling so mournful. longing
for a hard rain to wash it all away
