Actually, let’s forget it.
Because habit has hacked
another refuge of sincerity.

Let’s just go to the dump
to see the midden’s ribbons,
wrappings, diapers,
and invitations.

Curated by opportunity,
they are the legacy of the incurious.

Seagulls peck at and pull out
the smaller poems, the ones
that don’t dissemble,

carry them to a distant nest
of eggs, droppings and down

where the better lines lie
across the page like a lover
waiting on the bed.
