are you threatened
by the fact
that i fall in love
with souls
not bodies?
or by the fact that i am
not afraid to wear
a rainbow
with pride?
i am not ashamed to be
part of the lgbtq+ community,
i am not ashamed of being
who i am;
your insults aren’t ever going to
make me rise—
i get that bullied people sometimes become bullies,
and so i ascertain there must be some great sadness
in your heart;
and i am sorry that you’re wounded
but i’ll never apologize for being me.
