i’m sorry
that your wounds
are stronger
than your love,
but that’s a personal problem
you should look into;

“hey, queer girl,”
you said;
hey, girl, hey!
i’m in my thirties but go off
about my rainbow hat
or my rainbow heart or the fact
that i love souls and not bodies,

i’m not really that bothered;
you see my insecurity
doesn’t stem in who i am—

maybe yours does,
and maybe that’s why you sought
to pick at me;

regardless i’m here still shining
you haven’t dimmed my light.
