you were there every morning
on the milk carton before
my breakfast cereal along
with the dates when you
were reported missing

Was it a car you naively
got into
Probably not a flying
saucer that froze & swooped
you to another galaxy but by
the time you were kidnapped
we were all aliens in these
United States of America

Brett Tammy & Jeremy
did they ever find you and
forty or more years after
you disappeared I wonder
if I am one of you even if
I have a name an address
a job and a neurosis that
now needs medication
I sometimes feel like
the people now leading
me or who once taught
or brought me to Jesus
were also once
my kidnappers
