The Bus 2.0
Raud Kennedy
Waiting for the bus,
the retired man sits
on the overturned shopping cart.
He gave up his car
after he plowed his garage.
His kids were going
to take it away anyway.
It doesn’t matter,
he’s no longer in a hurry,
and the bus is like being inside
one of his grandson’s video games.
Slang he doesn’t understand,
spoken by people he wouldn’t meet otherwise,
smells he worries might be his own.
